Attention: Chronic High Performers

Updated: Jun 27, 2023

Career derailments happen to everyone, even high performers.

Yes, chronic high performers we too can underperform. One study showed that 26% of leaders who were rated by their bosses as having high potential were also seen by their bosses as having high risk of career derailment.

What would your boss say about your risk?

Boss Note - Pay attention to your people. And with kindness PLEASE take the time to talk to us, tell us the truth about what you see and support our growth.

In most cases, derailments occur when there is a lack of self-awareness and an unknowing practice of behaviors that will lead us down a damaging path.

Don’t sabatoge your success. It’s a horrible myth that only certain people or employees benefit from professional development. The truth is we are all in the learning lab.

According to the #research published in this Harvard Business Review article by Luis Velasquez MBA, PhD. and Jenny M Fernandez, MBA, 珍妮 we need to be sure to steer away from these traps:

1) Playing the victim

2) Loving the idea of busyness

3) Fiercely protecting your comfort zone

Sit with this list of traps for a bit today and:

💫Tune-in to your professional self and make a list of ways you might invest in being more aware to promote your ongoing success.

💫 Seek honest feedback from trusted members of your work/professional community.

💫 Create and execute a professional development plan to support your growth.
