These days we talk at length about the necessity of developing a self-care practice. This care is most often directed at our physical, psychological, and spiritual selves. But what about your professional self?
How do you take care of your professional self?
Take a minute today to think about and write down the ways you practice self-care. If you don’t currently have a self-care practice/routine in place, consider about what types of ideas you would like to implement in your daily/weekly/monthly schedule.
Are there any activities on the list that specifically focus on supporting your professional self or self in your professional role?
If you are like many of the students and professionals I know, the last time you spent any significant time thinking about professional self-care was when you were in the job search process.
But, why is that the case? You and I both know the benefits available to us when we commit time and energy to personal self-care practices, self-care when focused on our professional self can offer a similar transformation.
It takes purposeful engagement in practices that promote effective and appropriate use of the self at work, at home, and in life to be the best version of yourself.
