Career Care Planning

What are your BREAKing BARRIER goals for this year and beyond?

Care plans aren't just for clients' aspirations. If you last thought about your professional self while studying for your licensure exam or job searching, you deserve better and so does your career.

What are you waiting for? Someday has been reschedule to RIGHT NOW!

Here are some tips to help you create a career care plan.

1. Assess: Check in with your professional self and determine what aspects of your current role are “it” and what are “not it”. What is supporting your capacity to be your best self and thrive personally and professionally? What is problematic to your current and future success and why?

2. Diagnose: Make a list of the changes you need to make to take care of your professional self and your career using the information you collected in step one. Include attributes you'd like to gain, shifts that need to happen sooner rather than later, things and people you need to say yes to and others you need to let go.

3. Plan: Prepare SMART goals and guidelines for achieving your desired outcomes. Consider enlisting a colleague as an accountability partner, finding a professional support group/community and or hiring a professional coach.

4. Implement: Make a commitment to yourself and to proactive professional self-care and development. This means including professional self-care and development in your schedule regularly and with intention and maintaining boundaries with yourself and others that support your efforts to take care of yourself.

5. Evaluate: Accept responsibility for your actions and your ambivalence. Track your progress and modify your strategy to increase the likelihood of success.

Friends and colleagues, “you didn't come this far to only go this far.” Give yourself permission RIGHT NOW to take care of yourself, your career and plan for your future.
